Casual Vacancy in the Office of Councillor

Notice is hereby given that a vacancy exists in the office of Parish Councillor for the Parish of Hook Norton

The vacancy will be filled by co-option at the meeting on 11 July 2013. Those wishing to be nominated should register their interest with the Parish Clerk no later than 4 July 2013.

A person is qualified to be elected as a councillor if they are a *British, Commonwealth, Irish or European citizen and over 18. In addition, the person must meet at least one of the following:

  1. they are on the electoral register for the parish

  2. during past 12 months they have owned or tenanted land or premises in the parish

  3. during the past 12 months their principal or only place of work has been in the parish

  4. during the past 12 months they have resided in the parish or within 3 miles of it.

Bankrupts and those subject to recent sentences of imprisonment are disqualified from standing.

A person cannot be validly nominated unless his/her consent is given in writing to the Parish Clerk at rwattshooknortonpc@hotmail.co.uk or to Foxglove Cottage, Kings Road, Bloxham, OX15 4QE) by 4 July 2013. This should be accompanied by an A4 sheet detailing name, address, qualification for nomination* and one of 1-4 above, and the reasons for applying for the nomination.
