Casual Vacancy in the Office of Councillor
Notice is hereby given that a vacancy exists in the office of Parish Councillor for the Parish of Hook Norton
The vacancy will be filled by co-option at the meeting on 12 September 2013. Those wishing to be nominated should register their interest with the Parish Clerk no later than 26 July 2013.
A person is qualified to be elected as a councillor if they are a *British, Commonwealth, Irish or European citizen and over 18. In addition, the person must meet at least one of the following:
- they are on the electoral register for the parish
- during past 12 months they have owned or tenanted land or premises in the parish
- during the past 12 months their principal or only place of work has been in the parish
- during the past 12 months they have resided in the parish or within 3 miles of it.
Bankrupts and those subject to recent sentences of imprisonment are disqualified from standing.
A person cannot be validly nominated unless his/her consent is given in writing to the Parish Clerk at Foxglove Cottage, Kings Road, Bloxham, OX15 4QE or to rwattshooknortonpc@hotmail.co.uk by 26 July 2013.
This should be accompanied by an A4 sheet detailing name, address, qualification for nomination* and one of 1-4 above, and the reasons for applying for the nomination.
