Saturday 17th July saw the sun shining on the 17th Hook Norton Festival of Fine Ales. This year's festival has been hailed as the best ever, with record numbers of beers and attendees to drink them all! 105 real ales were on offer, kindly donated by brewers all over England, some from Scotland and Wales and of course a fine selection of our favourites from Hook Norton Brewery. Also on sale were a selection of ciders (including the popular Gwatkins cider stall), lagers, Pimms and wine. Over 7500 pints of beer were soaked up by the usual fine selection of food, including 2 hog roasts. New this year was Daisy with her shire horses, offering wagon rides around the site. |
Message from Thames Valley Police - Friday 9th July
An incident occurred on Wednesday in Bodicote. A male approached a resident and offered to gravel her driveway. She thought he was a local gardener and agreed to the work. Unfortunately the price of the work kept going up and he changed her £1000 for the work which was not to satisfactory standard.
The male was described as white, very tanned, gift of the gab, slim build, late 40's. He was accompanied by another older male in his 60's, white hair, glasses, moustache, 6ft, slim build, wearing a hi vis jacket.
They were driving a creamy/white tipper lorry.
Please alert neighbours and by very careful of rogue traders knocking doors. As always our advice is never to buy from the door.
If you have any information or see anything suspicious please telephone 08458 505 505 for information to Banbury Rural Police Team and 999 for immediate police attention.

"I was listening to the radio and heard about parachute jumping and I immediately thought I could do that. At the young age of 83 years old I did not see that as a problem, in my earlier years I think I would have been petrified. I have had wet Macular Disease for a number of years. Macular Disease robs people of their central vision which means they cannot read, watch television or recognise friends and family while out." Venice Barry jumped today, 12th June, to raise money for the Macular Disease Society
